Make-shift Medicine:

So, if you weren't grossed out by yesterday's post, I have an addendum for you. Over the past day, I have decided to take the doctor's advice, but with a slight twist. You see, I'm not too keen on the idea of branding the underside of my thumbnail, nor would I prefer barbaric methods if modern are availible.

Enter "the butterfly"

If you're familiar with medical termonology, a butterfly needle is much smaller than your average, run-of-the-mill hypodermic needle. It is characterized by the two plastic tabs or "wings" on either side of the needle - hence the name butterfly. Having a father that works in the medical field is helpful when you need the right tools.

My weapon of choice in the war to keep my finger drained has been the butterfly needle. I have kept the doctor's two holes open and proceeded to bore my own tonight... might need a bigger needle for it though. The butterfly keeps them open, but I need something that with serve as a better auger.

I'd take pictures and post them - but that'd just be twisted.

'Tis Only a Flesh Wound!:

I hate being so flippin' accident prone! We all know what happened to my pinky (almost cutting it clean off with a pudding can lid. Yeah, pretty gross, but lesson learned. That doesn't stop me from slamming my thumb in between my van's sliding door and the front passanger door!

So Friday, while I was packing to head back to the ranch (home to PA), I went to slam the sliding door closed. What I didn't realize is that my right thumb was not clear from the door, so I gave it full force. The doors were locked, so I had to pull my thumb loss, leaving a nicely sized, black, blood bister underneath my nail.

It hurts like nothing else and had swollen to twice the size of my other thumb. So, I desided to go to the doctor. He processed to bore two wholes in my nail and sends me for an x-ray. Before I leave, he tells me that I should try to keep the holes open by heating up a paper clip and burning the holes open!

I'm not too sure how I feel about that, but I guess if it's caveman medicine that works... I must comply.

I just wish I wouldn't keep doing stupid stuff like this to my dominant hand!
