Memorable Records:

In my current job, I work with medical information. I have worked this job for several years and seen some of the craziest names and patient information. This usually gives me reason to chuckle and I usually write a little blurb of laughter here.

Some have been outlandish, such as, for example: someone who has had their name changed from a normal, english name to a middle eastern sounding, Hindi name. Then there are the patients who have multiple last name changes - I think the record is 4.

Today’s subject has not so much to do with the patient’s name, but more of the study that was performed.

You must understand first off that what I have been doing as of late is gathering the patient information from two offices and merging the information. In the process of doing this, I am writing down the study information on one:

“Gall bladder Ultrasound/Right Mammography, DEXA , Venous Doppler US.... Gall Bladder US/Dave, Bilateral M....”

Dave?

Now, I took Anatomy and Physiology in high school and I remembered hearing about the Adam’s Apple... but I’ve never heard of the “Dave!” Where is the Dave located?

If I were to guess, I’d guess that the Dave is located somewhere in the vicinity of the spleen, but I don’t know, I’m not a doctor.
