‘Twas the Night After Christmas:

So it’s been a while since I’ve updated and the only reason that I have is because a good friend has reminded me to. Let me tell you a little about shopping for Christmas.

I’m a last minute shopper. I always have been and I’m not sure that I always will be, but for the sake of this story, realize that I spent most of Friday morning and early afternoon in the mall and related area. I went shopping with what little money I, the poor, workless (I saw workless because I do have a job...they just don’t have any work for me) college student trying to fund both education and a missions trip to Israel, can squeeze out. I’m not cheap, I really wish with all my heart that I wasn’t so stinking poor. But enough of my complaining.

In the process of my solo venture of hectic holiday mayhem, Mom’s cell phone rings... yes, I had my Mom’s cell on me because I’m too poor to have one of my own. It seems that in the melee of cookie making, the electric handheld mixer, which she had just purchased earlier that week, had died after 5 minutes worth of use. It hit the bowl of cookie dough and died. So, she sent Dad to find one.

Well, our area’s have-it-all department had it all but an electric handheld mixer. So, in an act of desperation, they asked me to look. I tried five... not one, not two... but five locations. From department stores to catalog stores to odds and ends stores, NO ONE had an electric hand mixer... that is, unless you wanted the sixteen speed, with 32 unique and painfully shaped attachments, that mixed and baked your cookies all at the same time, changed channels on the TV, scratched your back, disciplined the children, bathed the dog, plucked the chicken, and forged a seven year peace treaty between warring middle eastern nations... for the small price of $59.97.

So I’ve determined that this year, shopping-crazed parents are not fighting over Pokemon or Tickle-Me-Elmo or anything of the like. Parents have fought this year to be the proud owner of a reasonably priced, 220 watt, 5 speed electric hand mixer.
