What’s in a Name?:
As a file room employee, I see a lot of names. Most name are just that, names. There are, however, certain names or combinations of names that make me chuckle. I know that I don’t have a whole lot of room to talk, I do have an odd first and last name, but my names/ combination of names has never been used in a perverted joke or anything of the sort... some of the names I’ve seen can have, and do.
Now I am not going out of my way to make fun of these poor people. This is really just set up for what caught me off guard this morning...
(For patient privacy, I have changed the names for legal reasons and to protect them from pointing, hysterical laughter, and weird looks.)
As I was remaking folders today, I came across a folder... no problem. It has all the proper information: Name, Date of Birth, Social Security Number, Records of Studies...etc. As I said before, no problem. What caught me off my guard was below the name Kyle Roberts: Sahaandarikaman. I just sat back and thought out loud: “What the crap is this?”
Dumbfounded, I took the folder to the front and asked the girls what the deal with this was. Their comment was something to the effect of, “Well this wier.....guy.... weird guy wanted wrote this down for his name, so we had to put it on the folder.”
All I have to say is that I am so glad that I am not part of a crazy religion that makes me change my name to something absolutely....off the wall. I mean, I know that there are Biblical patriarchs that God gave them a new name, but that was the result of a promise, not just a whim. I can just imagine God saying “Hrm.... Angels, Jacob’s name is too normal.... I must call him Israel.” No way, that whole bit was a part of a promise not for celestial entertainment.
